Google adding new features to Chromebooks turning 10

Google launches its Chromebook to add new fantastic features to mimic higher-priced devices like Apple's MacBooks.

On Tuesday, the tech giant unveiled the longer term for Chromebooks, detailing several features coming to its Chrome OS soon.

Google adding new features to Chromebooks turning 10. The first Chromebook was released 10 years ago this month, and Google is actively working on new features to make them more functional for users.

Google's original Chromebooks were simple laptops that were designed with the Chrome web browser as their primary interface -- a novel concept in 2011 when they were first released. But now Windows PCs and Mac computers have both caught up with Google's stripped-down approach, with an app store full of applications that can be used offline as well as online.

While Android apps were the most significant update to Google's operating system, its commitment is now focused on smart functionality instead of just being a browser in a box. A new file manager application launched last year is set to receive an overhaul, along with improved touchpad controls.

A new feature will also allow Chromebooks to be able to recognise individual voices, which will enable the device to log users in via a voice-controlled personal assistant.

Chrome OS devices are all set to get a number of updates, including expanded Wi-Fi Sync so your Chromebook automatically connects networks you've approved on your phone. Other changes include new features for the clipboard and screen capturing tools that were first introduced in 2011 with Google's partnership deal—and other companies have come aboard since then like HP/Lenovo creating their own Chrome shipments limited by power but affordable prices compared to traditional laptops .

The new features will add a touch-enabled version of the file manager that was first introduced to Chromebooks in 2013. Additionally, Google is adding a number of new ways for Chromebooks to understand input from touchpads with gesture controls and palm rejection

Google is reportedly working on several feature enhancements to the Chromebook platform with the most significant being a system for voice-controlled personal assistants, code named 'Mave' . The system is said to allow users to have their information synced across all their devices via voice control. Along with these enhancements, Chrome OS will also be able to automatically connect with approved networks on your phone. Another update would make Wi-Fi sync available for other devices like PCs/Macs which would enable users to sync with Chromebooks as well as vice versa.
